“Now, now,” Tameka coaxed Judson after annoying him. “It’s rare for you to come to my place. I’ve got something nice for you. Come upstairs and take a look.”
When they arrived at Tameka’s office, she took out two albums.
Tameka handed one of them to Judson.
Judson casually glanced at it. He immediately frowned slightly and snapped it shut.
“What’s this?”
Tameka sat in her chair and swiveled around.
“I’m still keeping the matters between you and Rose a secret from your grandfather…”
“Matters between us?” Judson’s tone grew cranky. “She made a scene. Just ignore her. The more we care about her, the more arrogant she will be…”
Tameka acted as if she hadn’t heard what Judson had said. She
continued with her own topic, “If your grandpa finds out that you two broke up, I don’t know what will happen to him on his 80th birthday. You’d better hurry up and pick a new girlfriend to pacify him first.”
Judson thought, “If I bring a new girlfriend to Grandpa after breaking up with Rose, he will be pissed off to death.”
Judson was irritated. “Mom, can you stop messing around?”
www
Tameka turned à deaf ear to his words, flipped open the album, held it upright, and showed the girls‘ pictures to Judson.
“Look, these pretty young girls are all from noble families. Choose one right away, so I can go help Rose.”
Judson frowned, wondering what other tricks Tameka hadn’t shown.
“Rose?”
“Yeah,” Tameka put down the album in her hand, picked up another one next to her, and flipped it open with a smile. “The Edwards family did us a great favor, and I have always worried about Rose’s marriage. In the past, I was stupid enough to set you up, resulting in your bad ending. Now I’ve come around…”
She turned to a page and pointed at it before Judson. “The second son of Donlim Group’s president. He’s a good–looking man with a good character. Does he suit Rose?”
“No!” Judson slapped the album with a livid face. “The Edwards family has long declined. She is not qualified to marry into such a good family.”
“You don’t need to worry about this.” Tameka’s face turned cold and flung the album of girls at Judson.
“Mind your own business and pick a new girlfriend. You’re not important. What our family needs is a daughter–in–law.”
Judson had to take Tameka’s unreasonable request seriously.
“I’ll get Rose back before dinner today, okay?”
Tameka gave a winning smile. “Do you know where she is?”
Judson was slightly stunned. “You know?”
He didn’t even know his eyes were becoming terrifying when he thought of where Rose might have gone.
Tameka raised her head with pride. “No.”
Judson was speechless.
He straightened up, not wanting to waste more time on her.
“I’ll bring her back. Nothing like that will happen again until my grandpa’s birthday party.”
Tameka gazed silently into Judson’s eyes. He couldn’t read her pretty face.
“Mr. Roach!” Isidro broke in, flustered. “The legal team found out who the report was. They want to know if you still want to sue her.”
The topic changed drastically.
Judson did a double–take before frowning. “Of course! What’s wrong with her identity?”
Isidro felt that the recent things would make him lose at least three years of his life.
He stammered, “Yes…”
Isidro glanced at Tameka, who was dazed. “Mr. Roach, should we go out first or wait…”
“Say it now.” Judson wasn’t that patient. He was not in the mood to care about that reporter right now.
Isidro gathered his courage to speak energetically.
“At the request of our lawyers, Flourish Media provided Fatima’s real
name so that we can sue her.”
“And then?” Judson didn’t understand why Isidro had made such a fuss about a reporter.
Judson felt after working with him for many years, Isidro had become even less collected than before.
Isidro breathed more heavily, his voice growing louder.
“Fatima… is Ms. Edwards!”
In the room, there was silence for a second.
“What?”
Tameka laughed fearlessly.
She also knew Fatima, Flourish Media’s entertainment reporter.
The recent article about Judson and Lillian’s relationship that was spread around was from this reporter.
Although Tameka felt vexed after reading it, she had to admit that this reporter had some skills. She was able to make the rumor so
persuasive.
Tameka had the courage to tell Rose the gossip was fake because Tameka knew Judson had sent a lawyer’s letter to sue this reporter.
Tameka had never expected this.
The person who wrote the article was actually Rose.
It was Rose.
Rose organized a lot of evidence of Judson and Lillian’s relationship and then told everyone about it.
Was there anything more convincing than the article posted by the woman who was cheated on?
No.
Tameka secretly looked at Judson. From his stolid face at the moment, she guessed he had just known this.
Fatima.
Rose even used a fake name.
She wrote this article to let go of her feelings for Judson and cut all ties with him.
Now that Tameka thought about it, it was like what Rose would do after she learned the truth.
Tameka rolled her eyes. “And I was so silly as to persuade her not to split up with you! As a result, she already had the hard evidence of your affair. No wonder she posted this article!
“Rose is a knowledgeable and well–educated lady. If I were her, I wouldn’t have written it. I would have directly exposed your affair in the headlines!”
Judson did not say a word. He turned around and slammed the door with an angry face.
He slammed the mahogany doors all the way.
Tameka was not in a hurry. She slowly sipped a mouthful of tea, stood by the window, and raised her voice under the bright sun as if reciting a poem.
“Once someone climbs out of a well, they’ll discover a wide world!”
Outside Florale Tea House, the only response was the sound of a car driving away.
***
Judson waited outside Flourish Media until night.
Isidro dared not disturb him.
He stayed in the bodyguard’s car not far away, praying that Ms. Edwards would come out of the building soon.
No one understood Judson’s stubbornness better than Isidro,
If Judson could not achieve his goal, he would not give up until he died.
Rose blocked Judson and refused to take any calls from strange numbers.
She entered Flourish Media, the place that everyone around Judson never mentioned.
She came and left with Darrin, laughing and joking with the man who had nearly killed Judson.
Rose was going to make a clean break with Judson, even going so far as to start rumors about Judson and Lillian.
Isidro thought, “It’s heartless enough to do such a thing once.
“How dare she do it again?”
It was past midnight, and a group of figures appeared in the lobby on the first floor of Flourish Media.
